Summer

You know it is summer when… It is too hot to do anything! 4 weeks left until my due date with #2 so we will see when he decides to arrive. I made agua de fresa for my mother in law’s Father’s Day party this past Sunday. It was a hit and I was told it tasted really good, better than from the market! So that made my day.

I started an English class yesterday to take over summer. I have not taken an english class in a few years and boy do I despise writing and I am only on my second day! At least it is online though so I can keep ahead of the assignments instead of sitting in class.

I need something to actually blog about. I am terrible at crocheting my own patterns, I don’t have a ton of free time between class and taking care of my apartment to delve into a new hobby. I also don’t do couponing. Hmm something for me to think about I guess!

Agua de fresa con crema (strawberry water with cream)

So I have been addicted to the aguas frescas mainly the strawberry one from Cardena’s. So when strawberries were on sale at the market I decided to attempt to make it myself and it turned out the same if not better than from Cardena’s!

This makes about 5 servings (5- one cup servings). Let me know what you think!

1 1/2 lbs strawberries (2 cups pureed liquid)

1/2 can (7oz) sweetened condensed milk

1/2 c. sugar

2 c. water

Puree the strawberries in a blender, I prefer using the “crush” mode on my blender. Add in water and sugar, blend on low speed until mixed. Last add in the condensed milk and blend on low until everything is fully blended together. Let chill or serve over ice for a refreshing summer drink!

I also made this using 3 cups of pureed strawberry and it turned out amazing, a little thick but still good. If you have issues with seeds feel free to strain out the puree. It may make it easier if you mix the puree with water before attempting to strain.
